The Floating salon Narrowboat
The Floating Salon first opened its doors in the summer of 2008 on board a widebeam canal boat named Blackjack. Blackjack was Nicola's home for 7 years and she operated the salon from one room inside whist travelling the UK's Inland Waterways. There are many press articles and photographs online that you will no doubt come across if you Google The Floating Salon. Nicola was very honoured when The Floating Salon was chosen to take part in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Flotilla on the Thames in June 2012. After 7 years of living and working on the canal system Nicola decided to move off Blackjack and downsize to a smaller boat that she could use solely as her place of work.
Nicola and her partner bought a traditional narrowboat in January 2016 and spent the following four months renovating and converting this boat into a new Floating Salon which has a fantastic traditional feeling whilst being a modern, fully functional and surprisingly spacious hair and nail salon. In the summer months you can expect to enjoy a light and airy space to sit and relax away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Watching the ducks and swans glide by, butterflies, dragonflies, herons and perhaps a kingfisher too! In the winter The Floating Salon Narrowboat is an equally beautiful space offering a warm and cosy atmosphere. You can sit while your colour develops or have a pedicure in front of the wood burning stove as it warms your feet on a cold, wet winters day.
